QatarEnergy has entered into a 10-year sulfur supply agreement with OCP Nutricrops, a subsidiary of the OCP Group, a global leader in plant nutrition solutions and phosphate-based fertilizers.
Under the agreement, QatarEnergy will supply up to 7.5 million tons of sulfur to OCP Nutricrops starting from the third quarter of 2024. This partnership aims to support the development of innovative soil nutrition solutions to address global food production and sustainability challenges.
His Excellency Mr. Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, Minister of State for Energy Affairs and President and CEO of QatarEnergy, commented:
“We are pleased to sign this agreement, solidifying our business relationship with OCP Nutricrops and the Kingdom of Morocco. This agreement marks a significant step in advancing cooperation between our two companies and fostering mutual growth and value for both sides.”
The agreement reflects QatarEnergy’s strategy to build strong, long-term partnerships with industry leaders in fertilizers and highlights its commitment to supporting global agriculture and food security.
As one of the largest sulfur exporters worldwide, Qatar produces approximately 3.4 million tons annually—a figure set to rise with the completion of new gas production projects in the coming years. This deal reinforces QatarEnergy’s role in meeting global agricultural demands and fostering sustainable growth.
